The Director Couple, Usman, Zulfiqar are known as one of the best directors of Pakistan. There are several TV drama serials are on their credit. They are very hardworking, intelligent and experienced couple.
Mr. Muhammad Usman being the senior part joined the industry when in late 1972 he got an opportunity to work as Assistant Director with Mr. Akbar Khan, a famous director of that time and assisted in the film "Jhagra".
He got the confidence and worked with top class director like M.A.Rasheed who got National Award on his Film "QATIL KI TALASH".
Well known Director Mr. Arif Ch. also took him as assistant director in his films Fifty Fifty, Puttar Phannay Khan Da, Dosti Dushmani. Mr. Usman also assisted Director Rasheed Dogar in his film "Kaloo". He did a lot of Films with Mr.Younus Rathor, a well known director and assisted films like;
"Tere Bahon Mein", "Janni Dushman", "Juddai", "Do Ziddi", "Garam Khoon" and "Haider Khan". Fortune favours him and Mr.M.Sarwar a famous film editor referred him to the legend director Mr. Nazar ul Islam. In 1982 Mr. Zulfiqar Ali also joined Mr. Nazar ul Islam. As assistant both Usman and Zufiqar worked with Director Nazar ul Islam and assisted many films.
It is indeed a great credit that 28 out of 29 films got National Awards.
One of their movie "AENA" beat the record for being watched in the same cinema (BOMBINO, Karachi) for around seven years. Their other hit movies were Bandish, Zindagi, Haqeeqat, Shrarat, Madam Bawri, Kalay Chor, Nargis, Khawahish, Barood Ki Chaon, Chakar, Sheeshay Ka Ghar, Deewanay Log. In 1993 the assistants turned full fledge directors when they directed PTV drama series "ZAROORAT" by Munoo Bhai "Zaroorat" in a way was very important as it was the first private production drama series for PTV. Both Mr. Usman and Zulfiqar did a commendable job in TV as well and directed many dramas like Zaroorat, Aashyana, Bulandi, Marasam, Dharkan, Sawan, Daman, Aandhi, Deewanay, Baiti, Sassi, Kantay, Chanda Mamoon, Dil Se Dil Tak, Marasim, Main Khubsurat Hoon, Panchi, ...
Their under going project is a soap "Tere Pehlo Mein" for Jeo TV and Its on air now. All these are the best plays of their quarter.
Currently they are the most successful & busy directors. As director they have introduced many new but talented faces like Maria Wasti, Jana Malik, Farhana Maqsood, Kashif Mahmood, Naseem Viki, Meera Hashmi, Amna Ahmed, Shahzib Mirza, Maha Zeb, Uzra Butt, Moon, Roshni, Rida, Imran Azfar, Sobia,Imran Islam, Ammaria etc. Meanwhile many of the senior film stars like Muhammad Ali, Agha Talish and Naghma were also introduced at Television.
